Early identification of risk factors, comprehensive foot assessment and timely multidisciplinary intervention can significantly reduce complications and improve functional outcomes. This hands-on, clinically oriented pre-conference workshop is designed to provide participants with a practical understanding of the evaluation and management of diabetic foot problems, with particular emphasis on prevention of complications, ulcer management and limb preservation.
  • Comprehensive clinical evaluation of the diabetic foot
  • Identification and stratification of patients at risk for foot ulceration
  • Assessment of neuropathy, vascular status, deformities and pressure areas
  • Practical approach to diabetic foot ulcer assessment and classification
  • Understanding of bio-mechanical factors and abnormal plantar pressure
  • Principles of off-loading and pressure redistribution
  • Role of footwear, orthoses and customised interventions
  • Evidence-based approaches to wound care and infection prevention
  • Recognition of red flags requiring urgent referral and multidisciplinary management
  • Practical insights into limb preservation and prevention of amputation
